Jordana Spiro is an American actress, director, and writer. You might know her from the Netflix show Ozark or the TBS comedy series My Boys.

Besides acting, Jordana also directs and writes movies. Her first movie as a director, Night Comes On, was shown at the famous Sundance Film Festival in 2018. She worked on the movie at special workshops for directors and writers at the Sundance Institute. She also directed a short film called Skin, which won several awards.

To learn about filmmaking, Jordana earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from Columbia University in 2015. She also studied acting at the Circle in the Square Theatre School in New York.

Early Life and School

Jordana Spiro was born and grew up in New York City. She is Jewish and has a brother and three sisters.

She was always interested in acting and studied at the Circle in the Square Theatre School. She also spent a short time studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, which is a very famous acting school. Later, she decided to study filmmaking and went to Columbia University. Today, she lives in both Los Angeles and New York.

Acting Career

Jordana Spiro has acted in many movies and TV shows since 1995. One of her first movie roles was in From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter in 1999.

Television Roles

In 2000, Jordana starred in her first TV show, The Huntress. She and actress Annette O'Toole played a daughter and mother who worked as bounty hunters. The show was based on a true story and had 28 episodes.

From 2006 to 2010, she played the main character, P.J. Franklin, in the comedy series My Boys. P.J. was a sports reporter trying to find love while most of her friends were guys.

Over the years, Jordana has appeared in many popular TV shows. She had guest roles in crime dramas like Cold Case and CSI: NY. She also had a recurring role in the show Dexter in 2011.

In 2012, she was the star of the TV show The Mob Doctor. She played Dr. Grace Devlin, a surgeon who also had to work for the mob to help her family. More recently, she played Rachel Garrison in the popular Netflix series Ozark. In 2024, she joined the cast of the long-running show Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as an FBI agent.

Movie Roles

Besides her TV work, Jordana has been in several movies. In 2009, she was in the comedy The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard with actors like Jeremy Piven and Ed Helms.

In 2011, she acted alongside Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman in the thriller movie Trespass. She also appeared in the Fear Street movie series on Netflix in 2021, playing different characters in the past and present.

Personal Life

Jordana Spiro is married to Matthew Spitzer. They have one daughter together.
