Jorge Luis Batlle Ibáñez 25 October 1927 – 24 October 2016) was an Uruguayan politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Colorado Party. He served as the President of Uruguay from 2000 to 2005. He was thought to be one of the most popular presidents of Uruguay.
Ibáñez died on the night of 24 October 2016 at a hospital in Montevideo, Uruguay from a cerebral hemorrhage after falling during an interview. He died one day short from his 89th birthday.
