Jorge Antonio Ricardo (born September 30, 1961) is a famous jockey from Brazil. A jockey is a person who rides horses in races. Jorge Ricardo became known for winning more horse races than anyone else in the world. He first set this record in 2007. Later, another jockey named Russell Baze passed him. But on February 6, 2018, Jorge Ricardo caught up to Baze's record of 12,844 wins. A few weeks later, he won even more races, becoming the world record holder again!

Early Life and Career
Jorge Ricardo grew up in a family of jockeys. His father and two uncles were also jockeys. He started his professional racing career in 1976.
He quickly became very successful. On five different occasions, he won 400 races in just one year. From 1982 to 2006, he was Brazil's top jockey for 25 years in a row.
Winning Titles
Between 1982 and 2011, Jorge Ricardo won 29 yearly riding titles.
- 26 of these titles were in Brazil.
- 3 titles were in Argentina.
He has won over 160 major races, called Grade 1 races. One of these is the "Gran Premio Asociación Latinoamericana de Jockey Clubes e Hipódromos", which he won five times. The horse he rode the most successfully was named Much Better.

Brazilian and Argentinian Records
In 1993, he broke the record for most wins in Brazil. He won 477 races that year. In 2008, he set a new record in Argentina by winning 465 races in one year.
World Record Holder
On December 29, 2007, Jorge Ricardo won his 9,981st race. This happened at the Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo in Palermo, Buenos Aires. With this win, he passed Russell Baze to become the all-time leader in racing wins.
A few weeks later, on January 9, 2008, he reached a huge milestone. He earned his 10,000th win while riding a horse named Membresia. This historic win took place at San Isidro in Buenos Aires.
On May 26, 2013, he achieved 12,000 career victories. At this point, he held the world record for most race wins. On February 6, 2018, Ricardo won his 12,844th race on Jubiliea. This win tied him with the now-retired Russell Baze for the world record.
Jorge Ricardo is also one of the top jockeys in the Carreras de las Estrellas races, with 10 wins.
