Jory John's Career

Early in his career, Jory John worked at a place called 826 Valencia. This was a special non-profit organization in San Francisco that helped kids with their writing. He started as a volunteer, then interned, and finally became the programs director. He worked there from 2004 to 2009.

While at 826 Valencia, he helped create a book called Thanks and Have Fun Running the Country: Kids' Letters to President Obama. This book was a collection of letters written by children to the President.

After 2009, Jory John decided to focus more on writing his own books. The very next year, he published All My Friends Are ... with Avery Monsen.

Besides writing books, Jory John has also written for big newspapers and websites. These include New York Times, The Guardian, the San Francisco Chronicle, and BuzzFeed.
