José Antonio Alonso Navarro is a Spanish writer, professor, and expert in old English literature. He teaches English and European literature at universities. He is also known for his work as a translator and a literary critic.
He was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1965. He studied English language and literature at the Complutense University of Madrid. He later earned a special doctorate degree in English literature from Coruña University. His PhD research was about what people in the Middle Ages believed about life after death. He received a high honor called "CUM LAUDE" for his excellent work.

Awards and Recognitions
Honoring Contributions to English Literature
On March 21, 2017, José Antonio Alonso Navarro received a special award. Nick White, who was a top official at the British Embassy in Asuncion, Paraguay, gave him a Certificate of Honor. This award was from the British Ambassador, Jeremy Hobbs. It recognized Navarro's great work in translating and sharing Medieval English literature. He has done this important work in both Spain and Paraguay for nearly 20 years.
Study of His Poetry
A French professor named Dr. Marie Christine Seguin, from the Catholic Institute of Toulouse, studied José Antonio Alonso Navarro's poetry. She published her study in a magazine called Inter-Lignes in 2023. Her study focused on his poems about Friar Leopoldo of Alpandeire.
Promoting the Spanish Language
On April 23, 2025, Dr. Alonso Navarro received another important award. Mr. Javier Viveros, the Minister of the Linguistic Policy Secretariat, gave him a plaque. This award was for his efforts in promoting the Spanish language in Paraguay.
