José Roberto Figueroa Padilla (born December 15, 1959 – died May 24, 2020) was a famous Honduran football player. People often called him Macho. He played as a forward, which means he was responsible for scoring goals.
Roberto Figueroa played for several teams in his home country of Honduras, including F.C. Motagua and C.D.S. Vida. He also played professionally in Spain for clubs like Real Murcia and Hércules CF. One of his biggest achievements was representing Honduras in the 1982 FIFA World Cup.

Roberto Figueroa's Club Career
Macho Figueroa was known for his powerful shots on goal. After playing really well for the Honduran national team in the 1982 FIFA World Cup, a Spanish team called Real Murcia signed him. At that time, Real Murcia was in the Spanish Second Division.
Figueroa helped his team a lot by scoring many goals. Thanks to his efforts, Real Murcia was able to move up to La Liga, which is the top football league in Spain. He had an amazing first game in La Liga against Real Sociedad, where he scored two goals.
He continued to score many goals, getting eleven in each of his first two seasons in La Liga. In the 1984–85 season, he scored three goals in one game (a "hat trick") against CD Málaga. This made him the top scorer in the league for a while. Over time, Macho Figueroa became one of the most important players in the history of Real Murcia because of all his goals.
He later played for C.S. Cartaginés in Costa Rica. Roberto Figueroa finished his football career back where he started, with C.D.S. Vida in Honduras.
Roberto Figueroa's International Career
Figueroa started playing for the Honduran national team in 1980. He played in at least 28 international matches and scored 14 goals for his country.
He also played in 19 FIFA World Cup qualification games. This means he helped Honduras try to qualify for the World Cup. He was a key player in the 1982 FIFA World Cup squad in Spain. During that World Cup, he played in all three of Honduras' matches.

Managerial Career
After his playing career, Roberto Figueroa continued to be involved in football. In October 2012, he became the sporting director for a team called C.D. Real Sociedad. This team plays in the Honduran Second Division. Before this, he had lived in the United States for 14 years.
Death
Roberto Figueroa passed away on May 24, 2020. He died in San Francisco, California, after experiencing a cardiac arrest.
