José Asensio Lamiel (born January 29, 1924 – died August 26, 2020) was a Spanish artist. He was a talented painter and sculptor. José Lamiel was born in Calanda, a town in Spain.

About José Lamiel
José Lamiel started his art journey by studying at the School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Zaragoza. This was his first step into the world of art.
Art Studies and Training
He received a special scholarship. This scholarship helped him study at important art schools. He attended the San Carlos Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Valencia. Later, he studied at the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. These academies are famous for teaching fine arts.
Working Abroad
In the 1960s, José Lamiel moved to Colombia. He lived and worked there for six years. He also spent some time working in the United States. His time in different countries helped him grow as an artist.
Return to Spain and Recognition
After working abroad, José Lamiel returned to Spain. He settled in Madrid. There, he continued to create many paintings and sculptures. In 1989, he received a special award. It was called the Cruz de San Jorge. The government of Teruel Province gave him this honor.
