Joshua Antonio Torres Bryceland, known as Josh Bryceland or by his cool nickname, Ratboy, is a professional mountain biker from England. He was born on March 23, 1990, in Manchester and lives in Higher Poynton, Cheshire. Josh is famous for his amazing skills in downhill mountain biking.
He started racing when he was just 10 years old! Soon after, Andy Kyffin signed him to the Northwest Mountain Bike Centre team. Josh quickly began winning regional and national junior titles. Later, a friend of his father's, fellow rider Steve Peat, helped him join the Royal Racing team.
Junior Success and World Titles
Josh had a fantastic start to his career. In 2007, he became the Junior World Cup Series Champion. This was a huge achievement for a young rider! He even finished 9th in an Elite Men's race that year, showing he could compete with the best.
In 2008, Josh joined the famous Santa Cruz Syndicate racing team, following Steve Peat. That same year, he won the junior world championship in Val di Sole, Italy. This made him a world champion!
Moving to Elite and New Adventures
As an elite rider, Josh continued to achieve great things. In 2014, he had an incredible year. He won the British Cycling National Championships as a senior male. He also won two UCI Mountain Bike World Cup races that year, in Leogang, Austria, and Windham, United States. He finished second in the World Cup overall standings, showing he was one of the top riders in the world.
After 2016, Josh decided to leave the Santa Cruz Syndicate team. He wanted to try a different style of racing called Enduro. Enduro racing involves both downhill and uphill sections, testing a rider's all-around skills.
Today, Josh Bryceland is a freerider and a brand ambassador for Cannondale Cycles. This means he rides for fun and helps promote the Cannondale brand, sharing his passion for mountain biking with others.
