Early Days and Youth Teams
Josh Janniere grew up in Oakville, Canada. He started playing soccer at a young age. While playing for his club team, Clarkson SC, Josh showed great talent. He was even named the best player at an international tournament in Scotland.
His skills caught the eye of big teams. Scouts from famous English Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers noticed him.
When he was 15, Josh joined the Toronto FC Youth Academy. This happened after he played for the provincial team in Ontario. He spent three seasons with the Senior Youth Academy side. In 2010, he played for TFC Academy in the Canadian Soccer League. He even tried out for the main Toronto FC team when he was just 17.
Becoming a Professional Player
Josh Janniere signed his first professional contract on March 30, 2011. He joined the Colorado Rapids team. The Rapids got him from Toronto FC in a trade.
He made his first professional appearance very soon after signing. It was on the same day, in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game. His team played against the Chicago Fire.
Josh left Colorado on May 7, 2012. He then returned to the TFC Academy. He even played for the Toronto FC first team again. This was in a friendly match against Liverpool on July 21, 2012.
Later that year, on November 22, 2012, Josh had a trial with Sunderland. Sunderland is another team in the English Premier League. However, he could not sign with them. This was because of rules about work permits. The news was announced on December 23, 2012.
