Juan Antonio Corbalán Alfocea (born August 3, 1954) is a famous Spanish retired basketball player. He was a point guard, which is like the team's leader on the court. Many people thought he was one of the best European point guards in the 1980s.

Juan Antonio Corbalán played for his home country, Spain, in three different Summer Olympic Games. These were in 1972, 1980, and 1984. He was also named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1991. This is a huge honor in basketball! He was also chosen seven times for the FIBA All-Star Games. In 2008, he was recognized as one of the 50 Greatest EuroLeague Contributors.

Playing for Clubs: Real Madrid's Star

Juan Antonio Corbalán spent most of his amazing career playing for Real Madrid. This is a very famous basketball team in Spain. He played with them from 1971 to 1988.

Winning Many Championships

With Real Madrid, Corbalán helped his team win a lot of championships. They won the Spanish League 12 times! Nine of these wins were in the older LEB Primera División (1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, and 1982). The other three wins were in the newer Liga ACB (1984, 1985, 1986).

He also won the Spanish Cup seven times. On top of that, he helped Real Madrid win three FIBA European Champions Cups, which are big international tournaments. They also won the FIBA Saporta Cup once, the FIBA Korać Cup once, and the FIBA Intercontinental Cup four times.

Playing for Spain: National Team Success

Corbalán was a key player for the Spanish national basketball team. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the EuroBasket 1983 tournament. He led Spain all the way to the final game, but they lost to Italy.

He also won a silver medal with the Spanish national team at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games. This was a very proud moment for him and his country.
