Hans Werner "Juan" Reccius Ellwanger (born April 9, 1911 – died June 29, 2012) was a Chilean athlete. He was known for competing in the triple jump, a track and field event. Juan Reccius represented his country at the 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin, Germany.

Juan Reccius was a talented athlete from Chile. He was born in Valdivia on April 9, 1911. He lived a very long life, passing away on June 29, 2012, at the age of 101.

Early Life and Education

Juan Reccius studied engineering at the University of Chile. He finished his degree in 1935. This was the same year he achieved a big sports victory.

South American Champion

In 1935, Juan Reccius became the South American champion in the triple jump. This was a special achievement because his older brother, Adolfo Reccius, had also won the same title back in 1920. It was a family talent!

Olympic Dream

Juan Reccius had the honor of competing for Chile at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. He took part in the men's triple jump event. Although he did not make it past the first qualifying round, competing in the Olympics is a huge accomplishment for any athlete.

A Long Life

Juan Reccius was a remarkable person. For many years, he was the last living member of the Chilean team that went to the 1936 Berlin Olympics. He celebrated his 100th birthday on April 9, 2011, becoming a centenarian (someone who lives to be 100 or older).
