Juan Suárez Carvajal (born in 1485, died October 6, 1584) was an important leader in the Catholic Church. He served as the Bishop of Lugo from 1539 to 1561.

Juan Suárez Carvajal was born in 1485 in a town called Talavera de la Reina in Spain.
Becoming a Bishop
On September 9, 1539, the King of Spain chose him to become the Bishop of Lugo. This choice was then confirmed by Pope Paul III, who was the leader of the Catholic Church at that time.
As a bishop, Juan Suárez Carvajal had important duties. One of his roles was to consecrate, or officially appoint, other bishops. For example, in 1553, he was the main person who consecrated Bernardino de Carmona. Bernardino de Carmona became an Auxiliary Bishop for the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela.
Retirement and Later Life
Juan Suárez Carvajal retired from his position as Bishop of Lugo on March 10, 1561. He lived for many more years after his retirement. He passed away on October 6, 1584, at the age of 99.
