Juan de Arellano facts for kids
Juan de Arellano (born August 3, 1614 – died October 13, 1676) was a Spanish artist. He lived during the Baroque time period. He was famous for painting pictures of flowers. These types of paintings are called still lifes.
About Juan de Arellano
Juan de Arellano was born in Santorcaz, near Madrid, Spain. He also died in Madrid. He learned to paint from a teacher named Juan de Solis. Juan de Arellano was very good at painting flowers. Other artists from places like Flanders and Italy influenced his style.
One of his friends said that Juan de Arellano decided to paint only flowers. He did this because flower paintings paid more money. They also took less time to create.
Some of his well-known paintings include Bouquet of Flowers. Another famous one is Garland of Flowers, Birds and Butterfly. You can see this painting at the Louvre museum. Many of his works are also at the Museo del Prado in Madrid. The Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando has more of his still life paintings.
