Arthur Jules Marion (born November 19, 1884 – died April 5, 1941) was an important Métis leader. He was a businessman and a politician. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan (MLA). An MLA is a person elected to help make laws for a province.

Arthur Jules Marion was born in Duck Lake, in what was then the North-West Territories. This was on November 19, 1884. He was part of the Métis community. The Métis are a unique Indigenous group in Canada. Arthur Marion later lived in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. He passed away there on April 5, 1941, at 56 years old.

His Political Journey

Arthur Marion became a politician with the Liberal Party. He was first elected as an MLA in April 1926. This happened in a special election called a "by-election." A by-election is held when a seat in the government becomes empty. In this case, the previous MLA, Joseph Nolin, had passed away. Arthur Marion won the election for the area of Île-à-la-Crosse.

Arthur Marion served as an MLA until he passed away in April 1941. After his death, another by-election was held. Hubert Staines was elected to take his place. Arthur Marion's son, Louis Marcien Marion, also became a politician. Louis followed in his father's footsteps. He was elected as an MLA for Athabasca in 1944. He served until 1952. Arthur Marion was also related to William Albert Boucher. William Boucher was a Liberal Senator. He was Arthur Marion's brother-in-law.
