Julie Delance-Feurgard (born November 8, 1859 – died January 11, 1892) was a talented French painter. She was well-known for her beautiful landscape paintings. She also created "genre paintings," which show scenes from everyday life.

Early Life and Art Training

Julie Delance-Feurgard was born in Paris, France, on November 8, 1859. From a young age, she showed an interest in art. She decided to study painting seriously.

She attended a famous art school called the Académie Julian. This school was special because it allowed women to study art. At the Académie Julian, Julie learned from important artists like Jean-Léon Gérôme and Léon Bonnat. She also became friends with another artist, Louise Catherine Breslau, who was her classmate.

Showing Her Art

Julie Delance-Feurgard worked hard on her paintings. She got to show her art at the Paris Salon. The Paris Salon was a very important art exhibition in France. Artists hoped to show their work there to become famous.

In 1889, she received an "honourable mention" at the Salon. This was a special award that recognized her skill. She also became a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. This was a group of important French artists. Julie often showed her paintings at the Durand-Ruel gallery too.

Her Later Life and Legacy

In 1886, Julie married another painter named Paul-Louis Delance. He was also a teacher. Sadly, Julie Delance-Feurgard passed away in Paris on January 11, 1892. She was only 32 years old.

Even though she died young, her art is still remembered. In 2018, her work was part of a special art show. This exhibition was called Women in Paris 1850-1900. It celebrated the amazing female artists who lived and worked in Paris during that time.
