Jun Marques Davidson (born June 7, 1983) is a Japanese former football player. He is currently an assistant coach for the Malaysia Super League club Selangor.

Playing Career

Jun Marques Davidson had an exciting career playing football around the world. He played as a midfielder, helping his teams control the middle of the field.

Early Years and Youth Teams

Davidson was born and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. His mother was Japanese and his father was American. In 1995, when he was 12, his family moved to Pasadena, California in the United States. There, he went to high school and played football for the American Global Soccer School.

Playing in Japan

In 2002, Davidson returned to Japan. He started his professional career at age 19 with Omiya Ardija. After three seasons, he helped his team get promoted to the top league, the J1 League, in 2004. He played for Omiya Ardija until 2006, appearing in 87 games and scoring 2 goals.

In 2007, Davidson moved to Albirex Niigata. He also spent time on loan playing for Vissel Kobe and Consadole Sapporo. He returned to Albirex Niigata in 2009.

Playing in North America and Thailand

In 2010, Davidson moved to the United States again. He joined the Carolina RailHawks in the USSF Division 2 Professional League. He helped them win their conference title.

In 2011, he played for Tokushima Vortis in Japan's J2 League. He played 24 league matches and helped the team finish fourth. On January 1, 2012, Davidson signed with Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer (MLS). He played two seasons for the Whitecaps.

He returned to the Carolina RailHawks in March 2014 and became their captain. He was named the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP) that year. From 2015, Davidson played for Navy in Thailand. He then played for Charlotte Independence in the United Soccer League from 2016 to 2017. He stopped playing professionally at the end of the 2017 season.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player in 2017, Davidson started coaching.

Youth Coaching

He began his coaching journey with his former club, Omiya Ardija, working with their youth teams. In 2019, he moved to China to become a youth academy coach for Guangzhou R&F.

Assistant Coaching Roles

In 2020, Davidson became an assistant coach for Shijiazhuang Ever Bright. In early 2024, he was appointed as a club director for Shaanxi Union. In June 2024, he returned to Japan to coach the youth academy at Kagoshima United.

On November 30, 2024, Davidson was announced as an assistant coach for Selangor, a club in the Malaysia Super League. He works alongside fellow Japanese coach Katsuhito Kinoshi.
