James Bostick (born June 30, 1978), who is better known by his stage name Jus Allah, is an American rapper. He is famous for being a member of the hip hop groups Jedi Mind Tricks (JMT) and Army of the Pharaohs (AOTP).

Jus Allah was part of JMT from its early days. He left before they recorded their first album but rejoined a few years later. He officially appeared on JMT's second album, Violent by Design, in 2000.

He is known for his powerful and direct lyrics. His songs often talk about Afrocentric ideas, which focus on the history and culture of African people. He also makes references to the Five Percenters, a cultural movement. In his early work, he used a complex, multi-syllable rhyming style. Later, his voice became deeper and more intense. His time with Jedi Mind Tricks has had its ups and downs, and he has left and rejoined the group more than once.

Career

1993–2000: Early Days with Jedi Mind Tricks

Jus Allah started working with Jedi Mind Tricks as early as 1994. Because he was there from the beginning, many people see him as a co-founder of the group. One of the first known songs he recorded with JMT is called "Skinny Paz vs Vinnie Paz".

In the mid-1990s, Jus took a break from music to go to college. This is why he was not on JMT's first album.

In 2000, Jedi Mind Tricks released the album Violent by Design. Many fans think this album has some of Jus Allah's best work. He was like an unofficial third member of the group. He rapped on almost every song with the group's main rapper, Vinnie Paz. During this time, the members used different nicknames. Vinnie Paz was "Ikon the Hologram," Jus Allah was "Megatraum," and their producer Stoupe was "The Enemy of Mankind."

2001–2006: Leaving JMT and Going Solo

Soon after Violent by Design was released, Jus Allah left the group. He was unsure about JMT's new deal with Babygrande Records. He then started his own solo career.

In 2005, he joined Babygrande Records and began recording his first solo album, All Fates Have Changed. The album featured a song with GZA from the famous group Wu-Tang Clan. However, Jus had a disagreement with the head of the record label about the album. He left the label before the album was finished. The label released it anyway. Jus later said he was not happy with the album and had not approved its release.

In early 2006, an album called Necronomicon was released by a duo called The Devil'z Rejects. The album featured Jus and another rapper named Bomshot. Jus stated that he had nothing to do with the album and that it used his old, unreleased recordings without his permission.

2006–2013: Rejoining Jedi Mind Tricks

In 2006, Jus Allah and Vinnie Paz made up. Jus rejoined Jedi Mind Tricks. They released a new track online to announce their reunion. In a 2007 interview, Jus confirmed he was officially back with the group and had also rejoined Babygrande Records.

As an official member again, Jus also joined the hip hop supergroup Army of the Pharaohs. He appeared on their 2007 album, Ritual of Battle. In 2008, the original JMT lineup of Stoupe, Vinnie Paz, and Jus Allah released their sixth album, A History of Violence.

Jus also appeared on the next Army of the Pharaohs album, The Unholy Terror. For the next JMT album, Violence Begets Violence (2011), Paz and Jus felt that Stoupe was not focused enough on the group. They decided to make the album without him, using beats from other producers.

2013–Present: Second Departure and Solo Work

In 2013, Jus Allah left Jedi Mind Tricks and Army of the Pharaohs again. The exact reasons were not made public, but there were rumors of disagreements within the group.

He announced a new solo album, M.M.A. (Meanest Man Alive). After a few delays, the album was released on September 4, 2015.

In 2019, Jus Allah released a "diss track," which is a song made to criticize another artist. The track was aimed at a rapper named Diabolic, who then responded with his own diss track.

On October 31, 2022, Jus Allah released a six-song album called Forces at Play. It received a positive review from Insomniac Magazine, which praised his "supreme lyricism."

Influences

Jus Allah has said that some of his favorite groups are EPMD and A Tribe Called Quest. He said they inspired him to get into hip hop. He also said the powerful style of the Wu-Tang Clan influenced his own rapping.
