Just for Kicks was a fun American TV show on Nickelodeon. It was part of their TEENick shows. The story is all about a group of girls who play on a soccer team in New York City.
This show was created by Alana Sanko and developed by the famous Whoopi Goldberg. It had a few different names before it became Just for Kicks in 2005. It first aired in the UK in January 2006 and then in the US in April 2006.
Just for Kicks only had one season with 13 episodes. For a long time, it was hard to find, but in 2016, all the episodes were put on YouTube.
Meet the Characters
Main Players
- Alexa D'Amico (played by Francesca Catalano) is a popular high school girl. She used to be a cheerleader. She has an older brother named Chris. Alexa lives in Brooklyn. Her old friends don't understand why she likes playing soccer more than shopping.
- Winifred "Freddie" Costello (played by Mallory Low) is a tough girl. She and Alexa don't get along at first because they go to different schools. Freddie lives with her grandmother in Manhattan on the Upper East Side. Her parents are often away with the military.
- Lauren Zelmer (played by Katija Pevec) is a quiet and serious girl. She is a great athlete and also plays the violin. Lauren is very smart and busy with many activities. She has a big crush on Alexa's brother, Chris. They start dating by the end of the show. Lauren lives in Harlem, Manhattan.
- Vida Atwood (played by Jessica Williams) is a sporty and serious girl. She is very good at soccer and has played for a long time. Vida lives in Queens with her family. She sometimes feels shy about being very tall.
- Chris D'Amico (played by Jerad Anderson) is Alexa's older brother. He wants to be a filmmaker. He can be a bit silly sometimes.

- Marni Nelson (Jessica Sara) is a teammate who later becomes the team manager.
- Coach Leslie Moore (Craig Young) is the coach of the Power Strikers soccer team.
- Evan Ribisi (Johnny Palermo) is Chris's best friend. He also works at the cafe where the girls hang out.
- Courtney (Shelley Buckner) is Alexa's friend who doesn't like that Alexa is into soccer.
- Dr. Charles Atwood (Kadeem Hardison) is Vida's dad.
- Mrs. Atwood (JoNell Kennedy) is Vida's mom.
- Ty Atwood (Leon Thomas III) is Vida's younger brother. He can be annoying sometimes.
- Elise Atwood (Shani Pride) is Vida's older sister. She wants to be a model.
- Mrs. Zelmer (Jenica Bergere) is Lauren's mom. She is very protective of Lauren.
- Lucy Costello (Amy Hill) is Freddie's grandmother. Freddie lives with her.
- Dana Battle (Rinabeth Apostol) is the captain of the Power Strikers. She loves soccer more than anything.
