Justin Aaron Jackson (born March 28, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He last played for the Texas Legends in the NBA G League, which is like a development league for the NBA.

Justin Jackson played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, he was named a top college player (All-American) and helped his team win the NCAA championship!

He was picked by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2017 NBA draft. He then played for several NBA teams, including the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Phoenix Suns. In 2021, he won an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Justin Jackson played basketball for the Homeschool Christian Youth Association (HCYA) in Houston, Texas. He was a star player, leading his team to a national championship in 2012. He also won the Sullivan Award, which is given to the best homeschool basketball player of the year.

In his final year of high school, Justin was amazing, averaging 31.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He became one of the most talked-about high school athletes in the country. Many top colleges wanted him to play for them, including Baylor, Georgetown, Maryland, and North Carolina. He was considered a five-star recruit by major sports websites. In the end, he decided to play for North Carolina.

In 2014, Justin was chosen to play in the 2014 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. This is a special game for the best high school basketball players in the U.S. He scored 23 points and was named co-MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the game, sharing the award with Jahlil Okafor. He also won an award for good sportsmanship.

College Basketball Career

Justin Jackson played three seasons for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

  • Freshman Year (2014-2015): He was chosen for the ACC All-Freshman team. The ACC is a tough college basketball conference.
  • Sophomore Year (2015-2016): He helped his team win the ACC tournament and reach the national championship game.
  • Junior Year (2016-2017): This was his best college season! He was named ACC Player of the Year and was recognized as one of the best college players in the country (First-team All-American).

In 2017, Justin helped the Tar Heels win their sixth national championship in the 2017 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. He scored 16 points in that big game. After this amazing season, Justin decided to enter the NBA draft.

Professional Basketball Career

Justin Jackson was picked 15th overall in the 2017 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. However, he was traded right away to the Sacramento Kings. He signed a four-year contract with the Kings.

Playing in the NBA and G League

After playing for the Kings, Justin was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2019. He then played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Milwaukee Bucks. In 2021, he achieved a huge goal: he won an NBA championship with the Milwaukee Bucks! He played in five playoff games during their championship run.

Justin has also spent time playing in the NBA G League, which is a league where players can develop their skills and try to get back into the NBA. He played for the Stockton Kings (which was called Reno Bighorns then) and the Texas Legends. He has had several stints with the Texas Legends.

After his time with the Bucks, Justin continued to play for different NBA teams on short contracts, including the Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns. He often went back and forth between NBA teams and the Texas Legends in the G League. In 2024, he also had a short contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Justin Jackson has had a long career playing professional basketball, showing his dedication to the sport.
