Justin Williams (born May 12, 1984) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a power forward or center. He is known for being tall, at 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m), and strong, weighing 260 pounds (120 kg).

Early Life and College Basketball

High School Years

Justin Williams was born in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois. There, he played basketball for his school team.

College Play

After high school, Williams played college basketball. From 2002 to 2004, he played at Colby Community College. Then, from 2004 to 2006, he played for the Wyoming Cowboys at the University of Wyoming.

Professional Basketball Career

Starting in the NBA D-League

After college, Justin Williams was not chosen by any NBA team in the draft. He began his professional career in the NBA Development League. He played for the Dakota Wizards. In 12 games, he averaged 12.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.08 blocks.

Time with NBA Teams

His strong play led to a chance in the NBA. On January 5, 2007, the Sacramento Kings signed him to a short contract. After two successful short contracts, he was signed for the rest of the season.

Later, on February 16, 2008, the Kings let him go. This was to make space for a trade. On March 7, the Houston Rockets signed him for 10 days. He played in one game for the Rockets. Williams also had brief tryouts with the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Bobcats in 2008.

Playing Overseas

In 2013, Williams moved to the Philippines. He played for GlobalPort Batang Pier. He later joined the San Miguel Beermen in the same year. From 2014 to 2015, he played for the Saigon Heat.

Argentine League Success

From 2015 to 2018, Williams played for Ciclista Olímpico in Argentina. He became a very important player in the Liga Nacional de Básquet.

Playing in Colombia

In 2021, Williams played for the Colombian team Titanes de Barranquilla. This was during the 2021 BCL Americas season. He was the best shot-blocker in the league. He averaged 2.8 blocks per game.

Justin Williams is best known for two main skills: blocking shots and grabbing rebounds. These are very important for a big player in basketball. While playing for the University of Wyoming, he achieved a rare feat. On March 11, 2006, he had a triple-double. This means he got double-digit numbers in three different stats: 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 blocked shots.

In 2015, he led the Argentine league in both rebounds (11.2 per game) and blocks (3.9 per game).
