Kahlil Lorenzo Watson (born April 16, 2003) is a talented American professional baseball player. He plays as a shortstop for the Cleveland Guardians team. Kahlil was chosen in the first round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the Miami Marlins. This was a big step in his journey to play professional baseball.

Early Baseball Days
Kahlil Watson went to Wake Forest High School in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He was a great athlete, playing both baseball and football.
High School Highlights
Kahlil showed his skills early on.
- As a freshman, he hit for a .389 average.
- He also hit two home runs and had 22 runs batted in (RBIs).
- He was fast, stealing 17 bases.
- In his second year, he was even better, hitting .578.
- He hit six home runs and had 23 RBIs.
- He stole 26 bases that season.
- By his senior year in 2021, he hit .513 with six home runs.
Kahlil had planned to play college baseball at North Carolina State University.
Professional Baseball Journey
Kahlil's dream of playing pro baseball came true when he was drafted.
Starting with the Miami Marlins
The Miami Marlins picked Kahlil 16th overall in the 2021 Major League Baseball draft. He signed a contract for $4.5 million. He began his professional career with the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Marlins.
- He played nine games, hitting .394.
- He also had three doubles, two triples, five RBIs, and four stolen bases.
In 2022, Kahlil started the season with the Jupiter Hammerheads. This team plays in the Single-A Florida State League. During a game on July 1, Kahlil had a moment where he acted in a way that wasn't allowed by the team rules. Because of this, he was temporarily suspended and later moved to a different team level to continue playing and learning. On July 22, he played his first game again with the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Marlins.
Moving to the Cleveland Guardians
On August 1, 2023, Kahlil Watson was traded to a new team. He and another player, Jean Segura, joined the Cleveland Guardians. In return, the Marlins received first baseman Josh Bell. This trade brought Kahlil to his current team, the Cleveland Guardians.
