Kahului (Hawaiian pronunciation: [kəhuˈluwi]) is a town in Maui County in Hawaii, a state in the United States. It has Maui County's main airport, a big harbor for ships, and many shops. In 2020, about 28,219 people lived there. Kahului is part of a larger area that includes nearby towns like Wailuku and Lahaina.
Kahului is the main shopping area for people living in Maui County. It has several malls and large stores, including department stores at the Queen Kaahumanu Center. Fun places to visit in Kahului include the Alexander & Baldwin Sugar Museum, Kanaha Pond State Wildlife Sanctuary, Kanaha Beach County Park, and the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.

Exploring Kahului's Location
Kahului is on the north-central side of the island of Maui. It sits right on the shore of Kahului Bay. To its west is the town of Wailuku. To the southwest, you'll find Waikapu. The Kahului Airport and Spreckelsville are to the east.
The total area of Kahului is about 16 square miles (41.5 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, about 14.3 square miles (37.26 square kilometers). The rest, about 1.6 square miles (4.26 square kilometers), is water.
Kahului's Weather and Climate
Kahului has a hot, dry climate, especially during summer. This is because it's on the "leeward" side of Maui, meaning it's protected from the strong trade winds.
The average temperature changes throughout the year. In February, it's usually around 71.8°F (22.1°C). In August, it gets warmer, averaging about 79.7°F (26.5°C). It rarely gets very cold; temperatures drop below 60°F (15.5°C) about 21 nights a year. It gets very hot, above 90°F (32.2°C), about 25 days a year.
The highest temperature ever recorded was 97°F (36.1°C) in 1994 and 2015. The lowest was 48°F (8.9°C) in 1969.
Kahului gets about 17.83 inches (453 mm) of rain each year. This rain usually falls over about 95 days. The town is also quite windy, with winds averaging 13.7 miles per hour (22 km/h) each year.
