He started writing a special column for The Star Weekend newspaper in 1983. He continued this until 1988. After that, in 1989, he began writing for The News. His articles helped readers stay informed and entertained.

Besides journalism, Kaleem Omar was also a poet. His poems were so good that they were included in several collections of poetry. Some of these collections were called Pieces of eight, Wordfall, and A Dragonfly in the Sun.
