History of Kalida
Kalida was started in 1834. It was the very first county seat for Putnam County. The name "Kalida" comes from a Greek word meaning "beautiful."
A post office has been open in Kalida since 1834. The village officially became a village in 1839. Later, in 1866, the county seat moved to a different town called Ottawa.
You can visit the Putnam County Historical Society Museum in Kalida. It helps people learn about the area's past.

Kalida is located in the state of Ohio. It covers an area of about 1.47 square miles (3.8 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water.
