Kallaroo is a suburb located in Perth, Western Australia. It is one of four suburbs that were part of a big development plan called the 'Whitfords Development Scheme'. This plan started in 1969. It helped create new communities by changing how large areas of coastal land could be used.
The name Kallaroo was chosen in 1970. It comes from an Aboriginal word. This word means ‘road to the water’.

Springfield Primary School
Kallaroo is home to Springfield Primary School. This school was named after the original housing area. It first opened in 1972. Back then, it had four temporary classrooms. There were 179 students.
A permanent school building was ready in 1973. It had six classrooms. It also had buildings for the office and library. The school oval was sandy at first. After some injuries, a new grassed oval was ready in 1974.
Street Names and Shipwrecks
Many streets in Kallaroo have unique names. They are often named after famous shipwrecks. This includes shipwrecks from Western Australia's history. One example is the Batavia. This ship was wrecked a long time ago.
The Northshore Area
A part of Kallaroo is known as Northshore. This area is west of Dampier Avenue. It was developed in the mid-1980s. Northshore was the project name for this housing estate. Even though it has a different name, it is still part of Kallaroo.
