The Kandik River's Journey
The Kandik River begins its journey in the Canadian territory of Yukon. It then flows generally towards the southwest. This path takes it across the border into the U.S. state of Alaska.
Flowing Through Two Countries
This river is special because it flows through two different countries. It starts in Canada and then crosses into the United States. This makes it a transboundary river.
Joining the Yukon River
After flowing through Alaska, the Kandik River eventually meets a much larger river. It flows into the mighty Yukon River. This happens just a little bit upstream from where the Charley River also joins the Yukon River. This area is part of the beautiful Yukon–Charley Rivers National Preserve.
Length and Location
The Kandik River is about 82 miles (132 kilometers) long. It's a tributary of the Yukon River. A tributary is a smaller river or stream that flows into a larger river. The mouth of the Kandik River, where it joins the Yukon River, is in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska.
