About Kandy Kennedy

Kandy was born in Sydney, Australia, but grew up in Bathurst, New South Wales. Her family has a strong connection to rugby league. Her father, William Kennedy, played many games for the Balmain Tigers. Her brother, William Kennedy Jr, is also a rugby league player and currently plays for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks.

Kandy's Rugby League Journey

Early Career and All Stars

Kandy started playing rugby league at a young age. In 2013, when she was just 16 years old, she was chosen to play for the Indigenous All Stars team. This is a special team made up of Indigenous Australian rugby league players. She played for them again in 2014, starting as a winger against the Women's All Stars.

In 2017, while playing for the Indigenous All Stars for the third time, Kandy had a serious injury. She tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), which is a major ligament in the knee. This kind of injury can take a long time to recover from.

Playing for the Roosters

After recovering from her injury, Kandy joined the Sydney Roosters team in the NRL Women's Premiership in 2018. This is one of the top women's rugby league competitions in Australia. She made her first appearance for the Roosters in Round 3 of the 2018 season, helping her team win 26–0 against the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Later that year, on September 30, 2018, Kandy played in the Grand Final for the Roosters. Her team played against the Brisbane Broncos, but unfortunately, the Roosters lost the game.

Recent Teams and Achievements

In 2019, Kandy continued to play for the Indigenous All Stars. On February 15, she started as a lock forward in a close game against the Maori All Stars, which her team lost 4–8.

In 2019 and 2020, Kandy played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NSWRL Women's Premiership. This is another important rugby league competition for women in New South Wales.

In 2021, Kandy joined the Glebe Dirty Reds for their very first season in the NSWRL Women's Premiership. She continues to be an important player in women's rugby league.
