Kanen is the stage name of Karen Pinette-Fontaine (born January 5, 1999). She is an Innu singer and songwriter from Uashat-Maliotenam, Quebec. She is known for her amazing music. She was even nominated for a Felix Award for Indigenous Artist of the Year. This was at the 43rd Félix Awards.

Her Musical Journey
Karen Pinette-Fontaine started her music career in 2019. She joined a group called Nikamu Mamuitun. This group was led by Florent Vollant. Other talented artists were also part of this collective.
In the same year, Kanen released her first music collection. It was an EP (Extended Play) and was named after herself. She also took part in a music competition. This competition was called Francouvertes in 2020.
Beyond Music: Filmmaking
Kanen is not just a musician. She has also worked with Wapikoni Mobile. This group helps young Indigenous people create films. Kanen directed a short film for them. It was called Battles (Batailles).
