The Kansas City metropolitan area is a large region that surrounds the city of Kansas City, Missouri. It includes 15 counties found in both Missouri and Kansas. This area is home to about 2.34 million people. It is the second largest metropolitan area in Missouri, after Greater St. Louis. However, the Kansas City area is growing faster, with a 3.1 percent increase in population. The St. Louis area is growing at a slower rate of only 0.7 percent.
