Kansei calendar facts for kids
The Kansei calendar (Kansei-reki) was a special way of keeping track of days and years in Japan. It was a type of lunisolar calendar, which means it used both the Moon's phases and the Sun's position to figure out dates. This calendar was first published and used in 1797.
History of the Kansei Calendar
The Kansei calendar system was created by two very smart people: Takahashi Yoshitoki and Hazama Shigetomi.
These two scientists used new ideas from Western astronomy. They studied these ideas to make important changes to the traditional Japanese calendar. Their work helped to create a more accurate way to measure time.
