Kapalua LPGA Classic facts for kids
The Kapalua LPGA Classic was a big golf tournament for women. It was part of the LPGA Tour, which is a professional golf tour in the United States. This event happened in 2008 in Kapalua, a beautiful place on the island of Maui in Hawaii.
About the Tournament
The Kapalua LPGA Classic was a "standard" event. This meant that players earned points for playing in it. These points helped them qualify for the LPGA Playoffs at The ADT, which was a special championship at the end of the season. However, winning this tournament didn't automatically get a player into the playoffs. The system of earning points for the playoffs changed after 2008.
This golf tournament only took place for one year. It was played at the Bay Course at Kapalua Resort. When the tournament was first announced, everyone thought it would happen for at least three years. It was even planned for October 2009. But in June 2009, the people organizing the event said it was canceled. They couldn't find a main sponsor to help pay for it.
