What is Karachi Division?
Karachi Division is a special administrative area within the Sindh province. Think of it as a big section of land that includes the city of Karachi and its surrounding areas. It helps the government manage services and development for the millions of people who live there.
Why Divisions are Important

History of Karachi Division
The way Karachi is governed has changed a few times over the years.
When the Division Was Abolished
In the year 2000, the Karachi Division was temporarily removed. At that time, the five smaller areas (called districts) that made up Karachi were combined into one big area called the City District Karachi. This was a different way of managing the city.
The Division is Restored
However, on July 11, 2011, the Sindh Government decided to bring back the Karachi Division. This meant that the five original districts of Karachi were once again separated and managed under the division system.
A New District is Added
Later, in November 2013, a sixth district was added to Karachi Division. This new district is called Korangi. It was created by splitting off a part of the existing Karachi East District. This change helped to better manage the growing population and needs of the city.
