Kareem Streete-Thompson, born on March 30, 1973, is a talented athlete from the Cayman Islands and the United States. He is famous for his skills in two main sports: the long jump and the 100 metres sprint. He was born in Ithaca, New York, USA.
Even though Kareem was born in the United States, he spent his first 18 years growing up in the beautiful Cayman Islands. Because of this, he represented both the Cayman Islands and the United States during his sports career. He first competed for the Cayman Islands, then for the United States, and from 1999 onwards, he proudly represented the Cayman Islands again.
While studying at college, Kareem was part of the Rice Owls track and field team. He became a two-time champion in the long jump at the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) championships.

Kareem Streete-Thompson has had a very successful career, winning many medals and awards in different competitions around the world.
CARIFTA Games Success
Kareem was twice given the special Austin Sealy Trophy. This award is given to the most outstanding athlete at the CARIFTA Games, which are big track and field competitions for young athletes in the Caribbean. He won this award in both 1989 and 1990.
He won several medals at the CARIFTA Games:
- In 1987, he won gold in the long jump (Under-17 category).
- In 1988, he won gold again in the long jump (Under-17 category).
- In 1989, he won gold in the long jump, silver in the 100 metres, and bronze in the 200 metres (Under-17 category).
