About Karlskrona HK
Rising to the Top
Karlskrona HK had an amazing 2014–15 season. They earned a spot in the SHL, which is the highest league in Sweden. This was a huge achievement, especially since the club was only 14 years old!
Many things helped them succeed. They played really well as a team. Their goalie, Patrick Galbraith, was very strong. Players like Joel Kellman and Filip Cruseman also scored many points and goals.
Facing Challenges and Community Support
After three seasons, Karlskrona HK moved back down to the second-tier league after the 2017–18 SHL season. Later, they faced another challenge. They were not given a special "elite license" needed to play in the higher leagues. This meant they had to move down to Hockeyettan, which is the third-tier league, after the 2019–20 HockeyAllsvenskan season. Another team, Väsby IK HK, took their place.
The club was in danger of going out of business. But their fans and former players stepped in to help! They started a fundraiser to save the team. People like former player Joel Kellman and Swedish athlete Jon Olsson helped raise money. Thanks to this support, Karlskrona HK was saved from bankruptcy.
