Karolína Peake (born 10 October 1975), whose maiden name was Kvačková, is a Czech politician and lawyer. She served as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic from 2011 to 2013. She also held the position of Minister of Defence for a short time in 2012.

Karolína Peake's Political Journey
Early Life and Education
Karolína Peake was born in Prague, which was then part of Czechoslovakia. She studied law at Charles University and graduated in 1999. During her university years, from 1997 to 1998, she was a member of the Civic Democratic Party. After finishing her studies, she worked as a trainee lawyer.
Family Life and Local Involvement
Karolína Peake married Charles Peake, an Australian manager. They have two sons, Sebastian and Theodor. She took five years off from work to care for her children. During this time, she became active in her local community. She helped with campaigns to protect local parks and to create more playgrounds for children. In 2006, she was elected to the town council of Prague 1. She represented the political party called Public Affairs.
National Politics and New Party
In the 2010 election, Karolína Peake was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. This is like being a member of parliament. She represented the Public Affairs party.
In April 2012, she and seven other members of parliament left Public Affairs. They then started a new political party called LIDEM. The name "LIDEM" means "for the people" in Czech. It also stands for "Liberal Democrats."
Role as Minister of Defence
In December 2012, Karolína Peake was appointed Minister of Defence. However, she was dismissed from this role by Prime Minister Petr Nečas just eight days later. This happened because there was criticism about how quickly she changed some of the ministry's leaders.
Involvement with Prague Society
Karolína Peake is a member of the Prague Society for International Cooperation. This group works to connect future leaders and important public figures from different countries. It also aims to promote fairness and fight against corruption.
