The Karuwali people lived on a large area of land. Norman Tindale, a famous researcher, estimated their traditional country covered about 31,000 square kilometers (12,000 square miles). This land included areas near Farrars Creek and south towards Beetoota. It also stretched to Haddon Corner and Morney Plains. Their lands reached the Beal range in the east and extended west to places like Durrie and Monkira, along the Diamantina River.
