In 1988, Kate moved to Austin, Texas, in the United States. She continued her studies at the University of Texas, earning a Master of Fine Art in 1991. After graduating, she taught photography at the university until 1997. In 1999, Kate moved to Tucson, Arizona. Besides showing her art, she often gives talks and teaches workshops to other artists and students around the world.
