Katherine Duffy (born February 13, 1872 – died January 4, 1943), known as Kate Price, was an actress from Ireland who later became an American citizen. She was famous for playing Mrs. Kelly in a funny movie series called The Cohens and Kellys. These movies were made by Universal Pictures between 1926 and 1932. Kate Price acted in a huge number of films – 296 movies – from 1910 until she retired in 1937.

Kate Price's Acting Journey
Kate Price was born in Cork, Ireland. When she was nine years old, in 1881, her family moved to the United States. Her brother, Jack Duffy, was also an actor.
Starting on Stage
Kate began her acting career on stage in 1890. She performed in vaudeville shows with her husband, Joseph Price Ludwig, who was also an actor. Vaudeville was a popular type of entertainment with many different acts, like comedy, music, and dance.
Moving to Movies
In 1902, Kate Price started acting in movies with the old Vitagraph Studios in New York City. She worked with many famous movie stars of her time. These included Flora Finch, Douglas Fairbanks, John Bunny, Buster Keaton, and Mary Pickford. She even made 14 films with the comedy star Oliver Hardy at the Vim Comedy Company in Florida.
Hollywood Years
In 1917, Kate Price moved to Hollywood, California, which was becoming the center of the movie industry. She appeared in several important films, such as The Sea Tiger (1927), The Godless Girl (1929), and Reaching for the Moon (1930). Her last movie with MGM was Have a Heart in 1934. After making Easy Living and Live, Love and Learn in 1937, she decided to retire from acting.
Later Life and Passing
Kate Price passed away at the age of 70. She died at the Motion Picture Country Home in Woodland Hills. Her funeral was held at St. Theresa's Church, and she was buried in Calvary Cemetery.
