Katherine Leigh Ritchie is an Australian actress, radio presenter, and children's author. She is famous for playing Sally Fletcher on the TV show Home and Away. She was on the show for 20 years, from 1988 to 2008. For this role, she won two Gold Logie awards.
Kate Ritchie currently co-hosts the breakfast radio show Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Nova 96.9. She works alongside Ryan Fitzgerald and Michael 'Wippa' Wipfli. Before this, she was part of Nova FM's national drive show, Kate, Tim & Joel, from 2014 until 2023.
She holds a record for the longest continuous role in an Australian drama series. She shared this record with Ray Meagher and Norman Coburn. In 2013, Kate returned to Home and Away for a short time. This was to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary. Besides acting, Ritchie has also hosted TV events and appeared in commercials.
In 2022, Ritchie was a judge on the tenth season of Australia's Got Talent. In 2023, she played Carol Spiers in the 7 Network's two-part series The Claremont Murders. She acted opposite Erik Thomson in this show.

Early Life and School
Katherine Leigh Ritchie was born to Heather and Steve. She has three younger brothers and sisters.
She went to Campbelltown North Public School. Later, she attended Hurlstone Agricultural High School. This school is a special agricultural and selective school in New South Wales.
Kate Ritchie's Career Journey
Kate Ritchie started acting at a young age. In 1986, she played Molly in the mini-series Cyclone Tracy. She began working on Home and Away in 1987 when she was 8 years old. The show first aired on the Seven Network in January 1988.
In 2006, Ritchie played Nicole in the ABC film Stepfather of the Bride. She also visited the United Kingdom in 2006 to promote Home and Away. During this trip, she appeared on shows like The Friday Night Project and Loose Women.
She was also involved with the Campbelltown Musical Society.
TV Shows and Radio Work
In 2006, Ritchie was a contestant on the singing show It Takes Two. She sang with Troy Cassar-Daley and they finished fourth. The next year, in 2007, she co-hosted the second series of It Takes Two with Grant Denyer.
In 2007, Ritchie joined Nova radio to co-host the drive show. She worked with comedian Akmal Saleh. She left Home and Away in September 2007. Her last episode aired in April 2008.
On January 14, 2008, Ritchie started working on the Nova 96.9 breakfast show with Merrick & Rosso. She also appeared on The Merrick & Rosso Show later that year.
In 2009, Ritchie acted in the second series of Underbelly. She played Judi Kane. This was her first TV drama role after leaving Home and Away. She continued her radio role throughout 2009.
In November 2009, Ritchie announced she was leaving Nova 96.9's breakfast team. She wanted to focus on acting again. In 2010, she was cast in a main role in the police drama Cops L.A.C.. However, the show was cancelled after one season.

In 2013, Ritchie announced she would host the Nova FM drive show. She worked with Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold starting in 2014. This team won awards for Best Networked Program and Best On Air team in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Kate Ritchie has also written children's books. In 2016, she released I Just Couldn't Wait To Meet You. Her second book, It's Not Scribble to Me, came out in 2018.
In June 2021, Ritchie was announced as a judge for the tenth season of Australia's Got Talent. She judged alongside Shane Jacobson, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams.
In 2023, Ritchie left her Nova radio show Kate, Tim & Joel. She then joined Fitzy & Wippa to co-host Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie. Singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee Coulter replaced her on the previous show.
In 2023, Ritchie returned to acting in the Seven Network drama series The Claremont Murders. She played Carol Spiers in this show. On July 18, 2024, Ritchie was named for the ABC series The Role of a Lifetime.

Kate Ritchie got engaged to Stuart Webb, a rugby league player, in September 2009. They got married on September 25, 2010, in Tasmania. Their daughter was born in 2014.
