Katherine Leigh Ritchie (born 14 August 1978) is a well-known Australian actress, radio presenter, and children's author. She is most famous for playing the character Sally Fletcher on the TV show Home and Away. She was on the show for 20 years, starting from its first episode in 1988 until 2008. For her role, she won two Gold Logie awards, which are big awards in Australian television.
Kate Ritchie also has a successful career in radio. She currently co-hosts the breakfast show Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Nova 96.9. Before that, she was part of the national drive show Kate, Tim & Joel from 2014 to 2023.
Before leaving Home and Away, Kate held a record with other original cast members for the longest continuous role in an Australian drama series. She returned to Home and Away briefly in 2013 to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary. Besides Home and Away, Kate has hosted many TV events, appeared in commercials, a mini-series, and an Australian film.
In 2022, Kate was a judge on Australia's Got Talent. In 2023, she acted in the TV series The Claremont Murders, playing Carol Spiers.

Early life
Kate Ritchie was born Katherine Leigh Ritchie. Her parents are Heather and Steve. She has three younger brothers and sisters: Rebekah, Stuart, and Susan. Kate went to Campbelltown North Public School. She also attended Hurlstone Agricultural High School, which is a special agricultural and selective school in New South Wales.
Career highlights
Kate Ritchie started acting at a young age. In 1986, when she was just 8 years old, she played Molly in the mini-series Cyclone Tracy.
She began working on Home and Away in 1987. The show first aired on 17 January 1988. In 2006, Kate played "Nicole" in the ABC film Stepfather of the Bride. While promoting Home and Away in the United Kingdom in 2006, she appeared on shows like The Friday Night Project and Loose Women.
In 2006, Kate was a contestant on the singing competition It Takes Two. She finished fourth with her singing partner, Troy Cassar-Daley. The next year, in 2007, she co-hosted the second series of It Takes Two with Grant Denyer.
In September 2007, Kate announced she would be leaving Home and Away. Her last scenes were filmed in December 2007. Her final episode as Sally Fletcher aired in Australia on 3 April 2008.
In January 2008, Kate started working on the Nova 96.9 breakfast radio show. In 2009, Kate appeared in the TV series Underbelly, playing Judi Kane. This was her first TV drama role after leaving Home and Away. She continued her radio role throughout 2009.
In 2009, Kate became the face of Vaseline. She also hosted the 2009 ARIA Awards on 26 November.
In November 2009, Kate announced she was leaving Nova 96.9's breakfast team to focus on acting again. In 2010, she was cast in a main role in the police drama Cops L.A.C.. However, the series was cancelled after its first season.
In 2012, Kate narrated the Australian version of the reality series Don't Tell the Bride. In early 2013, it was announced that Kate would return to Home & Away as Sally Fletcher.
In 2013, Kate shared on Twitter that she would host the Nova FM drive show with Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold in 2014. This radio show won several major ACRA awards. In 2015, the team won Best Networked Program. They also won Best On Air team in both 2016 and 2017.
On 25 November 2015, Kate Ritchie became the Godmother of the cruise ship Pacific Eden.
In 2016, Kate released her first children's book, I Just Couldn't Wait To Meet You. Her second book, It's Not Scribble to Me, was published in 2018.
In June 2016, Kate became a brand ambassador for QV Skincare. She also hosted the 50th anniversary of Play School in July 2016.
In June 2021, Kate was announced as a judge on the tenth season of Australia's Got Talent. She judged alongside Shane Jacobson, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams.
In 2023, it was announced that Kate would leave her Nova radio show Kate, Tim & Joel. She then joined Fitzy & Wippa to co-host Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie from March 2023.
After some time away from TV acting, Kate returned in 2023 in The Claremont Murders. This drama series is based on real events in Western Australia. Kate played Carol Spiers, the mother of Sarah Spiers.
On 18 July 2024, Kate was named for the ABC factual series The Role of a Lifetime.
Personal life
Kate Ritchie started dating St George Illawara Dragons player Stuart Webb in 2008. They announced their engagement on 9 September 2009. Kate married Stuart Webb on 25 September 2010, in a countryside wedding in Tasmania.
On 17 August 2014, Kate gave birth to their daughter.
