Raymond Francis Meagher (born 4 July 1944) is an Australian actor. He has been in Australian movies and TV shows since the mid-1970s.
Ray Meagher is famous for playing Alf Stewart on the TV show Home and Away. He has been in this role since the very first episode in 1988. This makes him the longest-serving actor in an Australian TV show. In 2010, Meagher won a Gold Logie Award for his work on Home and Away. He has played Alf for over 36 years.

Ray Meagher's Early Life
Ray Meagher grew up on a sheep and cattle farm in Queensland, Australia. When he was nine, he went to a boarding school on the Gold Coast.
At high school, Marist College Ashgrove in Brisbane, he was a very good sportsman. He played many sports for his school, including rugby union. He even played rugby at a state level for Queensland in the late 1960s. He played against the French team.

Ray Meagher first appeared on TV in 1973 as a host for a music show called Around Folk. His first acting job on TV was in the soap opera Number 96 in 1977.
He became a popular actor for many different characters. His early TV roles included shows like Matlock Police, Ben Hall, Rush, and Cop Shop. He also played three different bad guys in the show Prisoner between 1979 and 1986. He also had roles in A Country Practice.
In 1984, Meagher was in the TV miniseries A Fortunate Life. He played a character named Bad Bob. People often cast him as tough characters in his early career. He also appeared in Five Mile Creek as an Irish bushranger.
Ray Meagher won a Penguin Award for his role in the TV movie Mail Order Bride (1984). In 1986, he filmed a series called Five Times Dizzy. He also filmed the miniseries The Great Bookie Robbery at the same time.
