Kathrin Michel, born on April 17, 1963, is a German politician. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Since 2021, she has been a representative for Saxony in the German Parliament, called the Bundestag. Before becoming a politician, she worked with trade unions.

Early Life and Work
Kathrin Michel was born in Forst, which was part of East Germany at the time. From 1983 until 2021, she worked for a company called BASF in Schwarzheide. This was before she became a full-time politician.
Political Journey
Since October 2021, Kathrin Michel has been a co-leader of the SPD party in Saxony. She shares this role with Henning Homann.
Joining the Bundestag
After the federal elections in 2021, different political parties talked about forming a new government. These talks involved the SPD, the Green Party, and the Free Democratic Party (FDP). This group of parties is sometimes called a "traffic light coalition" because of their party colors.
