Kati Agócs's Education Journey
Kati Agócs studied at the Juilliard School in New York. There, she earned her Master's and Doctoral degrees. Her main teacher was Milton Babbitt, a famous composer. She also attended special music programs. These included the Aspen Music Festival and the Tanglewood Music Center. In 2007, she received a special award there called the ASCAP Leonard Bernstein Composer Fellowship. She also learned to sing from Adele Addison.

From 2005 to 2006, Kati Agócs lived in Budapest, Hungary. She wrote about new music from Hungary for a journal called The Musical Times. Before this, she helped set up a student exchange program. This program was between the Juilliard School and the Liszt Academy in Hungary. A Hungarian newspaper, Bécsi Napló, praised her for helping Hungarian composers get noticed. In 2010, she was the Composer in Residence for the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. This means she worked closely with the orchestra.

In 2022, her piece called Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra was also nominated. It was again for Classical Composition of the Year.
