Katsuyoshi Kuwahara (桑原 勝義, Kuwahara Katsuyoshi, born May 30, 1944) is a famous Japanese football player and coach. He played as a forward, which means he was a player who tried to score goals. He also played for the Japan national team. His brother, Takashi Kuwahara, was also a football player.

Playing Days: A Club Footballer

Katsuyoshi Kuwahara was born in Fujieda, Japan, on May 30, 1944. After finishing high school, he played football for two different clubs. These teams were Nippon Light Metal and Nagoya Mutual Bank. He played for these teams until 1971. That year, his last club, Nagoya Mutual Bank, closed down. After this, he stopped playing professional football.

Playing for His Country: Japan National Team

Katsuyoshi Kuwahara also had the honor of playing for the Japan national team. His first game for Japan was on March 22, 1965. This match was against Burma, which is now known as Myanmar. A few days later, on March 25, he played another game. This time, it was against Singapore. In total, he played two games for Japan in 1965.

Becoming a Coach

After he stopped playing football, Kuwahara became a coach. In 1973, he started coaching a team called Honda. This team was part of the Japanese Regional Leagues. He helped the Honda team achieve great success. In 1975, he led them to be promoted to the Japan Soccer League Division 2. Later, in 1981, he helped them move up again to Division 1. He left the Honda team in 1982.

In 1987, Kuwahara took on a new challenge. He became the manager of a brand new club called PJM Futures. He coached this team for several years. He continued to manage PJM Futures until 1992.
