Katsuyoshi Kuwahara (桑原 勝義, Kuwahara Katsuyoshi, born May 30, 1944) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He was a forward, which means he played in an attacking position to score goals. He also played for the Japan national team. His brother, Takashi Kuwahara, was also a football player.

Playing for Clubs

Katsuyoshi Kuwahara was born in Fujieda, Japan, on May 30, 1944. After finishing high school, he started his club career. He played for two teams: Nippon Light Metal and Nagoya Mutual Bank. In 1971, his team, Nagoya Mutual Bank, was closed down. After this, Kuwahara decided to retire from playing football.

Playing for Japan

Kuwahara also had the honor of playing for his country. On March 22, 1965, he played his first game for the Japan national team. This match was against the team from Burma. A few days later, on March 25, he played another game for Japan. This time, the opponent was Singapore. In total, he played two games for Japan in 1965.

Becoming a Coach

After he stopped playing, Kuwahara started a new career as a football manager. In 1973, he became the manager for a club called Honda. This team was part of the Japanese Regional Leagues at the time. Kuwahara helped the Honda team achieve great success.

Under his guidance, Honda was promoted to a higher league, the Japan Soccer League Division 2, in 1975. Later, in 1981, he led them to the top league, Division 1. He left the Honda team in 1982. In 1987, he took on another coaching role. He became the manager of a new club called PJM Futures. He continued to manage this team until 1992.
