Keiichi Zaizen (born June 17, 1968) is a Japanese former football player and manager. He was born in Muroran, Hokkaido, Japan. His younger brother, Nobuyuki Zaizen, also played football professionally.

Keiichi Zaizen's Playing Career

Keiichi Zaizen started his football journey in his hometown. After finishing high school, he joined a team called Nissan Motors in 1987. This team later became known as Yokohama Marinos.

Early Years as a Player

During his time at Nissan Motors, it was tough for Zaizen to get much playing time. He was a midfielder, a player who helps both in defense and attack. Even so, he was part of a very successful team.

Moving to Other Teams

In 1994, he played for Kashiwa Reysol on loan. This means he temporarily moved to another team. Later, in 1996, he joined Consadole Sapporo. He played for this team for one season. Keiichi Zaizen stopped playing professional football at the end of the 1996 season.

Playing Achievements

While playing for Yokohama Marinos, Keiichi Zaizen's team won many important competitions.

  • They won the Japan Soccer League twice, in 1988/89 and 1989/90.
  • They also won the JSL Cup three times in a row (1988, 1989, 1990).
  • His team won the Emperor's Cup four times (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992).
  • In 1995, his team won the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.

Keiichi Zaizen's Coaching Career

After he stopped playing, Keiichi Zaizen decided to become a coach. He started his coaching career at Consadole Sapporo in 1997. This was the same team he played for last.

Coaching Youth Teams

For many years, Zaizen focused on coaching younger players. He worked with the youth teams at Consadole Sapporo until 2009. In 2010, he moved to another club, Avispa Fukuoka. There, he also mainly coached their youth teams until 2012.

Becoming a Top Team Manager

In 2013, Keiichi Zaizen returned to Consadole Sapporo. This time, he became the manager of the club's main professional team. He led the team for about a year and a half. However, he left the role in August 2014.
