Nobuyuki Zaizen (財前 宣之, Zaizen Nobuyuki, born 19 October 1976) is a Japanese former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder. He is known for his time with clubs like Vegalta Sendai and Montedio Yamagata. He also represented Japan in youth international tournaments.
Early Life and Family
Nobuyuki Zaizen was born in Muroran, Japan. His birthday is October 19, 1976. He has an older brother named Keiichi. Keiichi was also a professional footballer.
Playing for Clubs
Nobuyuki Zaizen started his senior football career in 1995. He joined Verdy Kawasaki from their youth team. In 1996, he went to Spain to play for Logroñés on loan. However, he got injured and could not play any matches. He then returned to Japan.
In 1998, he played his first match in the 1998 J.League Cup. After a short time with the Croatian club Rijeka, he joined J2 League club Vegalta Sendai in 1999. He became an important offensive midfielder for the team.
In 2001, Zaizen became a regular player for Vegalta Sendai. That year, the club was promoted to the J1 League for the first time ever. From 2002, his playing time decreased. The club was relegated back to J2 League at the end of the 2003 season. However, he became a regular player again from 2004.
In 2006, he moved to Montedio Yamagata. In 2008, even though he played less, his club was promoted to the J1 League for the first time. In 2010, he moved to Thailand. He played for Muangthong United in 2010. Then, he played for BEC Tero Sasana in 2011. He announced his retirement from football in January 2012.
Representing Japan
In August 1993, Zaizen was part of the Japanese under-17 team. They played in the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championship. He played in all four matches during the tournament. He was even chosen as a member of the 'All Star' team for the tournament.
