Keiko Kitagawa (北川 景子, Kitagawa Keiko, born August 22, 1986) is a Japanese actress. She started her career as a model for Seventeen magazine. Later, she became famous for playing Sailor Mars in the live-action TV show Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. Keiko Kitagawa has starred in many movies and TV dramas.

Keiko Kitagawa was born on August 22, 1986, in Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. She grew up in Kobe. When she was a child, she hoped to become a doctor. However, by high school, she was unsure about her future.

Around that time, a talent agency discovered her. She decided to try working in the entertainment world. Her parents agreed, but with two rules. First, she had to stop if she didn't make progress in a year. Second, she had to focus on her studies and finish university. She graduated from Meiji University in Tokyo in March 2009.

Her Career Journey

Soon after joining the agency, Keiko Kitagawa was chosen as both a model and an actress. In 2003, she became "Miss Seventeen." This led to her modeling for the Japanese magazine Seventeen until 2006.

Becoming an Actress

Keiko Kitagawa's acting career began when she played Rei Hino in the live-action Sailor Moon TV series. Her first big movie role was in Mamiya Kyōdai. The director, Yoshimitsu Morita, inspired her to focus more on acting.

She first worked mostly on films, taking lead roles in movies like Cherry Pie and Dear Friends. In late 2007, she got her first main role in a TV drama called Mop Girl. In 2008, she starred as the main character in Homeroom on the Beachside.

Life and Hobbies

Keiko Kitagawa moved to Tokyo when she started her acting and modeling career. She has lived there ever since. She traveled to California to film The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. She also went back to California in 2006 to study English for a few months.

From 2007 to 2008, she wrote a column called "Keytan Hakusho." It was for a Japanese weekly TV magazine. Keiko Kitagawa says she enjoys staying home. She likes watching DVDs, listening to music, and reading books. Her talent agency is Stardust Promotion.

Family Life

In 2016, Keiko Kitagawa married singer-songwriter Daigo. That same year, she won an award for Best Actress for her role in Ie Uru Onna.

She announced her first pregnancy in April 2020. Her daughter was born on September 7, 2020. In September 2023, Keiko and Daigo shared that they were expecting their second child. Their son was born on January 31, 2024.
