Keith McLeod (born November 5, 1979) is an American former professional basketball player. He is now a head coach for boys' varsity basketball at East Canton High School in Canton, Ohio. Keith is 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) tall.
He played in the NBA for teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz. He also played for the Golden State Warriors and Indiana Pacers. Besides the NBA, he played in other leagues like the CBA and NBA D-League. He even played basketball in Italy, Greece, and Estonia.
College Basketball Career
Keith McLeod played college basketball for Bowling Green. In 2001, he was named to the All-MAC second-team. This means he was one of the best players in his college conference.
In 2002, Keith was named the MAC men's basketball player of the year. He led his team, Bowling Green, to the MAC championship game. They also earned a spot in the NIT. When he finished college, he was the second-highest scorer in his school's history. He scored a total of 1,895 points.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Keith McLeod was not chosen in the 2002 NBA draft. However, other leagues picked him. The Saint Joseph Express selected him in the 2002 USBL Draft. The Yakima Sun Kings also chose him in the 2002 CBA Draft.
He later played for several NBA teams. In 2006, the Utah Jazz traded him to the Golden State Warriors. In 2007, he moved to the Indiana Pacers in another trade.
In 2008, Keith signed a deal with the Dallas Mavericks. However, he did not play any games for them. He then played for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds in the NBA D-League. Keith's last NBA game was in April 2007 with the Pacers.
After his time in the NBA, Keith played basketball internationally. In 2010, he signed a one-year deal with the Greek team Panionios B.C..
He also played for teams in the NBA D-League again. In 2011, he joined the Canton Charge. Later, he was traded to the Erie BayHawks. In 2012, Keith joined BC Kalev/Cramo in Estonia. In his first game, he scored 25 points and made a game-winning shot.
Education and Coaching
Keith McLeod went to Canton McKinley High School. He earned a degree in Computer Science from Bowling Green State University.
After his playing career, Keith started coaching. In 2016, he became an assistant coach for the boys' varsity basketball team at Canton Glenoak High School. His main job was to help players improve their skills. Now, he is the head coach at East Canton High School.
