Kellys Plains is a small country area in New South Wales, Australia. It is about 8 kilometers southwest of Armidale. This place sits high up, about 1,044 meters above sea level. It is part of the beautiful Northern Tablelands region.

History of Kellys Plains
How Kellys Plains Got Its Name
Kellys Plains is named after one of the first people who settled here a long time ago.
Kellys Plains Public School
The Kellys Plains Public School opened way back in 1863. It is a small school. Students are usually in two groups: Kindergarten to Year 2, and Year 3 to Year 6.
Old Railway and Post Office
The Kellys Plains railway station opened on 3 February 1883. It helped people travel and move goods. The station closed on 20 February 1975. The Kellys Plains Post Office opened on 1 April 1884. It closed many years later in 1945.
St John's Anglican Church
St John's Anglican Church was first built from timber in 1896. It was officially opened in 1897. In 1923, a new brick church building replaced the old one. Some early settlers, the Perrott family, were buried in the churchyard. Their headstones are the only ones left from before the 1923 church was built.
Community Life
The Kellys Plains-Dangarsleigh Country Women's Association (CWA) is a group that meets once a month. They meet in the CWA Rooms on Dangarsleigh Road. The CWA helps women and communities in country areas.
Today, not many people live right in Kellys Plains. Many people who live in the area have small properties. They often travel to nearby towns like Armidale for work.
