Kembangan MRT station opened a long time ago, on 4 November 1989. When it was first built, like many older above-ground stations on the East West Line, it didn't have special safety doors on the platforms.

Adding Safety Doors

These special doors are called platform screen doors. They are like half-height fences that stand at the edge of the train platform. Their main job is to stop people from accidentally falling onto the train tracks.

After some successful tests, it was decided to add these doors to Kembangan station. The installation began in December 2010. The platform screen doors officially started working on 25 February 2011. This made the station much safer for everyone.

Keeping Cool and Quiet

To help keep commuters cool, Kembangan station also got some big fans. These are called high-volume low-speed fans. They started working on 14 July 2012. These fans help to move a lot of air around, making the station more comfortable.

Later, in September 2016, something called privacy screens were added. These screens help to reduce the noise from the trains. This is important to make sure that people living nearby are not disturbed by the station's operations.
