History of Kempton Village
How Kempton Got Its Name
The area where Kempton now stands first had a post office in 1869. It was called Sugar Loaf back then. Later, in 1878, the village was officially started. Its name was changed to Kempton. This new name honored the village's founder, a person named Wright Kemp.
Famous People from Kempton
Some notable people have connections to Kempton. Arthur R. Falter (1906–1979) was born on a farm near the village. He became an Illinois state legislator and a businessman.
Another well-known resident is David Hatcher Childress. He is famous for appearing in many episodes of the TV show Ancient Aliens on the History Channel. He lives in Kempton and also in Camp Verde, Arizona.
